Who We Are :
The Atlanta Community Food Bank is working to end hunger in our community with the food, people and big ideas needed so that no one worries where their next meal is coming from. Since 1979, we’ve been providing food for a growing network of nonprofit partners – including food pantries, community kitchens, childcare centers, night shelters and senior centers. We currently serve more than 700 partners in 29 counties across metro Atlanta and north Georgia.

About the Role :
As an integral member of the Development Team, the Volunteer Specialist is charged with executing programs and processes to increase and strengthen the engagement of volunteers and to provide customized experiences that motivate volunteers to increase their investment (time, talent, dollars) in support of the Food Bank’s mission. The individual in this role must be creative, a problem solver and a relationship builder. Strong organizational and communications skills are a must!
What You’ll Do :
- Collaborates, partners and nurtures relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Works with donors and VIP volunteers to organize service opportunities while balancing a high volume and providing superior customer service.
- Nurtures relationships with volunteers and supports them in identifying service opportunities that meet their needs and the needs of the organization.
- Collaborates with staff to identify volunteer opportunities in the organization.
- Effectively recruits and places the right volunteers with the right skills in volunteer positions.
- Supports ongoing volunteer recognition activities and tactics
- Represents the Atlanta Community Food Bank at volunteer fairs and corporate employee engagement activities
- Other duties as assigned
