Job Summary:

The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining State Farm Arena's outdoor and indoor grounds, ensuring they are safe, visually appealing, and functional for events, athletes, and guests. This role involves routine landscaping, turf maintenance, equipment operation, and general upkeep to support the arena's operations and enhance the fan experience.
 

Key Responsibilities:

General Facility Upkeep

• Monitor owned and operated grounds and adjacent facilities day to day to ensure cleanliness and address issues promptly
• Sweep, clean, and maintain walkways, and parking lots.
• Responsible for the upkeep of all equipment. 
• Be an integral part of coordinating with other operating departments to perform snow removal, salting, or de-icing during inclement weather to ensure safety
• Maintains city relationships
• Report any maintenance issues to ensure they are promptly addressed by the appropriate personnel

Landscaping

• Plant, prune, and care for trees, shrubs, flowers, and other landscaping elements around the facility.
• Remove weeds, debris, and other unsightly elements to maintain a polished appearance.
• Operate tools such as hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and mowers.
• Manage third party landscaping contracts

Safety and Compliance

• Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines when operating equipment.
• Safely operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment, including power tools.
• Inspect equipment regularly and report any issues for repair or replacement.
• Ensure compliance with environmental and workplace regulations.
• Oversee the safe handling of sharps and biohazardous waste and materials.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality grounds.
• Ability to safely operate and maintain landscaping and grounds equipment.
• Basic understanding of pest control.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical labor in various weather conditions.
• Capability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
• Must be flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience in groundskeeping, or housekeeping preferred.

Working Conditions:

• Environment: Outdoors
• Hours: Full-time, with flexibility to work outside regular hours as needed.
