What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nuclear Medicine Technologist position at Atlanta Heart Associates Pc?
Primary Duties:
- Perform diagnostic Nuclear Cardiology and/or PET Scan procedures under physician direction.
- Administer radiopharmaceuticals and chemical stress medications per protocol.
- Operate nuclear medicine equipment to produce diagnostic images.
- Explain procedures and safety to patients, providing direct care during procedures.
- Accurately document the use and disposal of radioactive materials.
Quality Control and Equipment Maintenance:
- Conduct daily and weekly quality control tests on nuclear medicine cameras.
- Perform daily dose calibrator checks and quarterly linearity testing.
- Conduct area surveys and wipe tests, documenting results.
- Decontaminate spills and manage radioactive waste disposal.
- Maintain and archive nuclear medicine studies.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with Georgia Department of Natural Resources guidelines.
- Assist in reaccreditation and audits by maintaining records and providing access.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Program.
- ARRT or NMTCB certification.
- BLS Certification.
- 1-2 years of experience preferred.
