Description
The Facilities Maintenance Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation and upkeep of our facilities, directly supporting our mission of compassionate care for animals in need. This role oversees routine and preventive maintenance of critical building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, fire suppression, security, and life safety systems. Additionally, the Facilities Maintenance Manager is responsible for the maintenance and scheduling of servicing the facility equipment such as generators, floor drains, splash pads, and water heaters. By implementing proactive maintenance schedules, this role helps prevent disruptions, ensures compliance with safety regulations, and extends the lifespan of facility assets.
The Facilities Maintenance Manager is also responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of our Arthur M. Blank Family Animal Center, including but not limited to the physical building, parking areas, equipment, security, and landscaping. This ensures a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment for staff, visitors, and animals alike.
Key Responsibilities
- Repair and Maintenance
- Conduct daily inspections of the building and grounds to ensure cleanliness and organization
- Proactively identify potential issues across various trades—including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, janitorial, and masonry—and takes the initiative to resolve them efficiently
- Obtain estimates and cost quotes as needed
- Maintain an active and complete calendar of preventative maintenance activities, ensuring work is completed in a timely manner
- Inventory and Logistics Manager Support
- Assist the Inventory and Logistics Manager with managing warehouse inventory and receiving incoming deliveries
- Provide support with AHS Fleet service appointments by providing transportation for the Inventory and Logistics Manager
- Onsite Vendor Support
- Coordinate and support onsite vendors during scheduled maintenance repairs and installations, ensuring work is completed to the highest standards
- Work directly with the Senior Director of Administration and Strategic Initiatives on facility modifications, including estimates on equipment, labor, materials, and other related costs
- Grounds Maintenance
- Perform routine ground maintenance tasks, including landscaping clean up, waste removal, and general upkeep to maintain a clean and safe environment
- Strategic Work Plan Support
- Assist in the implementation and support of the strategic work plan, contributing to the long-term goals and improvements of the organization
- Communication
- Provide consistent and timely communication regarding work orders, projects, and concerns
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge and experience in maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repairs
- Working knowledge of building maintenance
- Demonstrated trade knowledge and repair abilities
- Ability to manage multiple complicated priorities/tasks
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to interpret maintenance-related documents, including but not limited to safety manuals, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form to a variety of constituents, internal and external
- Valid Georgia driver’s license or ability to obtain a valid Georgia driver’s license and must be an insurable driver by AHS insurance provider
- Must be comfortable working around both dogs and cats
- Ability to lift 50 lbs with reasonable accommodation
- Required to operate a variety of motor vehicles including trucks and cargo vans
Work Environment
