Secondary School Teacher of AISx Science-Sandy Springs

Atlanta International School
Springs, GA Full Time
POSTED ON 4/24/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 6/24/2025

ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

Atlanta International School (AIS) unites students, educators, and families from Atlanta and around the world with a shared mission: to develop courageous leaders who shape their world for the better.

Our community represents 90 nationalities and over 60 languages. Starting in August 2025, AIS’s Upper School will span two campuses: the Buckhead Campus for Grades 3K-12 day students and the Sandy Springs Campus for Grades 9-12 day and boarding students.

This dynamic, inclusive environment gives AIS its unique energy—a place where students, educators, and families thrive, innovate, and belong. As an International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum school from 3K to Grade 12, we offer the PYP, MYP, DP, and CP, with additional flexibility through AISx. This unique program is tailored for pre-professional students in athletics, entertainment, entrepreneurship, and more. AISx partners with Mouratoglou Tennis Academy and the Atlanta United Youth Team and holds Athlete Friendly Educational Center (AFEC) accreditation.

Our engaging and comprehensive academic programs develop internationally minded, critical thinkers who excel at connecting complex knowledge to create innovative solutions. At AIS, students experience a world-class education within a diverse, multicultural, and multilingual community that prepares them for meaningful, global impact.

JOB PURPOSE

AIS teachers inspire students from diverse backgrounds to become courageous leaders in a culturally responsive and restorative learning environment. We are a team of innovative educators dedicated to creating inquiry-based lessons that foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. At AIS, teachers ignite and sustain student curiosity by co-creating meaningful learning experiences that encourage students to apply their knowledge and skills for positive impact. As part of the AISx team, you’ll work with students pursuing their passions alongside the high-level academics expected as part of an AIS education.

AISx is an innovative program designed to provide flexible, hybrid academic programs for students who are pursuing sporting, other specialist professional routes or those who want to explore a flexible academic schedule. Flexibility comes within the school day itself and through support during times of travel or other extended absences from school. A key partnership in the AISx program is with the Atlanta United Development Academy, where we are projecting to have 30 students in grades 9-12 enrolled in AISx in the 25/26 school year.

AISx teachers require resilience, adaptability, and a solution-focused mindset. Flexibility and the ability to build relationships and personalize learning are critical skills. AISx teachers will all have a role to play beyond academics to help ensure the wider pastoral and holistic development of AISx students. All science classes will be aligned with the Georgia standards and infused with the IB approaches to teaching and learning.

This is a part-time position - equivalent to 0.6 of a full time position - teaching AISx students in the AISxATLUTD partnership. Ideal candidates would be able to teach Chemistry, Biology and Physics but there is some flexibility with this.
