The Driver Assistant is critical to the thrift ministry by assisting with pick up and transporting donated goods. The Driver Assistant may also participate in varied tasks within the thrift ministry operation, including working in stores as needed.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
- Assists in the upkeep and maintenance of the trucks, including keeping the vehicle’s interior and exterior clean and serviced.
- Ensures vehicle is serviced according to Atlanta Mission’s service schedule and procedure.
- Assists in Maintaining mileage logs according to Atlanta Mission procedure.
- Maintains a safe vehicle and work environment while protecting the assets of Atlanta Mission.
- Assists in coordination with the Call Center Manager (dispatch), thrift store managers, Donations Center staff and/or Atlanta Mission staff to schedule pickups and delivery of donated merchandise
- Maintains communication and cooperation between all parties to ensure good public relations and problem resolution
- Ensures all pick-ups are completed in a timely manner. Communicates problems with the Call Center Manager to ensure a quality customer service experience for the donor.
- Makes deliveries as assigned.
- Makes work-related decisions based on the best interest of Atlanta Mission.
- Ensures appropriate care is taken in handling merchandise and safety is exercised at all times. Additionally, ensures that appropriate care is taken while in the donor’s home and/or property to ensure a quality customer service experience.
- Follows established policy and uses discretion in responding to donations that may not be sellable or usable (avoiding unnecessary garbage expense).
- Channels merchandise in a timely manner so that Atlanta Mission receives the maximum value.
- Assists in loading/unloading merchandise to/from vehicles.
- Assists in the operation of the thrift store and/or Donations Center when waiting for trucks or if no pickups are scheduled.
- Completes donation receipts as per Atlanta Mission procedure.

Position Requirements:
- Must be available to work the hours necessary to assist in the operation of the thrift ministry and maintain Atlanta Mission standards.
- Must be able to plan routes and read a map.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
CERTIFICATION OR LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: A valid Georgia driver’s license, ability to be insured on company policy required, and able to pass DOT certification test
Physical Requirements:
- Must have the ability to remain in a stationary position (standing, sitting and/or walking)
- Must have the ability to lift, pull, or carry up to 100 lbs.
- Must be able to communicate accurate information
- Must have the ability to frequently crouch, bend, reach and climb

Salary : $16 - $17
