Our firm is seeking a Legal Accountant who can dive in to assist our growing team. You should have exceptional knowledge of MS Excel and accounting software, accounts receivable and payable, and financial transaction reports. You’ll execute monthly client billing and answer any client inquiries concerning those invoices. Responsibilities :
Help with our end-of-year audit by running and analyzing various financial reports
Ensure staff and attorney payroll is processed, prepare annual W-2’s and 1099’s, and tax filings
Work with staff and clients to address client charges on invoices
Adjust and reconcile general ledgers and prepare financial reports such as balance statements and income and loss statements
Handle both accounts receivable and accounts payable and distribute monthly client invoices
Perform bookkeeping duties : Maintain data on financial statements
Manage payroll duties to ensure employees are paid on time
Reconcile bank statements and prepare financial statements
Properly record financial transactions
Verify that transactions are recorded in the correct daybook, suppliers ledger, customer ledger, and general ledger
Oversee all financial transactions, such as credit card and bank reconciliations, and manage the accounts payables and accounts receivables process
Implement extensive data entry to ensure all financial data is input into accounting software
Resolve any invoice issues, and process invoices, checks, and payroll accurately and on-time
Safeguard the accuracy of the general ledger and journal entries, prepare balance sheets, and financial reports
Update and maintain accurate financial records, contracts, annual budgets, tax reports, and financial statements
Manage Trust Account
Qualifications :
Expert in MS Excel, data entry, and accounting software
Exceptional knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and accounting procedures
High school diploma or equivalent, plus some college is preferred - bachelor’s degree is a plus
5 years’ related accounting, bookkeeping, or related field experience at a law firm or accounting firm
You should have great detail orientation, analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work accurately and gracefully under pressure
Must exhibit exemplary problem-solving, communication, and time-management skills
2 years of work experience at an accounting firm or as a bookkeeper, cost accountant, management accountant, or similar position
Worked previously with basic accounting systems, QuickBooks, and Excel
Exceptional knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Candidate must have a bachelor's degree in accounting or similar field
Associate’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field is preferred - a high school diploma is required
Exceptional organization, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are important
Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel, and accounting software, such as QuickBooks
