Position Status – Full Time Non-exempt (hourly)

Reports To: VP Retail Experience

Purpose: The primary purpose of this position is to assist Atlanta Postal Credit Union to live out our Mission, “To help our members achieve financial success by providing exceptional products and service.”

The Receptionist position serves as the first point of contact for members, visitors, vendors, and employees at our Corporate Headquarters building. In this position the incumbent will manage various administrative tasks, manage the front desk, and ensure that they help to create a welcoming atmosphere that is professional and reflects the values of the Credit Union.

  • Promptly, and in a friendly and professional manner greets all visitors to the building.
  • Ensures that the receptionist area and surrounding areas are neat, clean, tidy and always free of clutter; Puts in a ticket to facilities where assistance, repairs, or maintenance is required.
  • As needed, required, or requested, performs general administrative tasks including but not limited to faxing, photocopying, notifying building occupants of visitor arrivals, providing instructions on navigating specific areas of the building, handling basic inquiries, etc.
  • Follows established security protocols, processes, and procedures.
  • As required, will manage and maintain visitor logs, and/or issue visitor badges in accordance with established security protocols.
  • Ensures that only authorized people advance to visit other floors in the building.
  • As requested, will provide basic information such as contact information, available branch services, office or building hours, receive and distribute phone messages to building occupants, etc.
  • As requested, may assist with the booking, set up, or coordination of catering or refreshments for community events held in the building.
  • As needed or assigned, provide logistical support for office events, employee functions, or branch functions and activities.
  • May occasionally assist with mail or mail distribution.
  • Effectively uses written and oral communication skills in daily correspondence and completion of tasks, interactions with members, staff, vendors, and regulators.
  • Consistently communicates a positive and clear message around the credit union’s strategic goals, objectives, and delivery of quality services to members.
  • Complies with all aspects of BSA/AML, OFAC, NCUA regulations as they relate to this position.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail and strong customer service skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No direct reports. May manage day-to-day tasks through indirect reporting relationships or through a matrixed management approach and the ability to collaboratively interact with internal and external partners.

REQUIRED Education and/or Experience:
  • Requires a level of knowledge normally gained with a high school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 to 3 years of prior customer service experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
PREFFERED Education and/or Experience:
  • 3 or more years of prior experience as a front desk receptionist or administrative assistant in a corporate environment
  • Prior experience scheduling or coordinating meetings
  • A general understanding of retail banking services and product offerings

Physical Job Requirements:
Subject to business needs the position may require non-standard work hours (occasional evenings and/or occasional weekends), overnight travel less than 10%, and the ability to lift and carry weights of 5 to 20 pounds. Must be able to sit, stand, bend, or stoop as needed and the ability to interact with people in writing, over the phone, and in person as required. Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machines such as calculator, computer, printer, facsimile, telephone, copier, etc.
