POSITION SUMMARY:
The Reading Specialist promotes and develops successful reading instruction for students. The Reading Specialist is responsible for assessing students' reading level, group and individual instruction, monitoring student progress and adjusting curriculum to meet students' needs. The Reading Specialist provides leadership for the school's entire literacy program, collaborating with teachers, coaches, and administration, and serves as a resources within the school and for the community. Applicants should be innovative, enthusiastic, and highly committed to leading change.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Screen and assess students to establish proper performance level.
- Provide intensive instruction to struggling students individually or in small groups within or outside of the students' classrooms.
- Analyze school and student data and recommend modifications to instruction and interventions for students for meeting and exceeding student achievement goals.
- Monitor student progress and arrange for academic interventions based on formative and summative assessments.
- Serve as a resource in the area of mathematics for paraprofessionals, teachers, administrators, and the community.
- Collaborate with teachers to ensure student mastery of standards by assisting with data driven instructional planning, integration of technology and implementation of research based strategies.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.
