SUMMARY: Under administrative direction, responsible for the operations and maintenance of the airport; supervises operations, and maintenance staff to ensure quality performance; and performs responsible and innovative management in support of the Authority’s goals and objectives.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Manages, delegates and reviews assigned work.  Provides coaching and counseling, staff development, evaluates performance and applies organizational policies and procedures;

·       Ensures staff, facilities, equipment and materials are managed at a level that provides continuous safe operations during both routine and emergency conditions

·       Oversees compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and state and local policies and procedures; interprets FAA regulations and reports legitimate community complaints and willful violations of regulations to FAA;

·       Liaises with government regulatory personnel, contractors, professional consultants and others.

·       Obtains fuel and manages supply for the airport through the airport fuel provider.

·       Oversees airport wildlife programs.

·       Oversees safety and security programs.

·       Maintains relationships with local officials (fire and police) and industry organizations (FBI, ICE, DEA, etc.)

·       Ensures compliance with applicable OSHA requirements for employee safety;

·       Manages maintenance staff to ensure prompt response to equipment failures and prioritize work activities for repair and return to service in a timely manner to minimize asset downtime;

·       Conducts routine facility inspections to ensure facilities are maintained properly to maximize useful life;

·       Prepares and administers month-to-month lease  agreements,

·       Manages budget and monitors expenses; 

·       Coordinates the annual air show.

·       Assists Auditors with the annual audit.

·       Establishes and maintains good public relations with airport users; 

·       Provide prompt response to emergencies at the GA airports around the clock throughout the year.

·       Attends applicable conventions, seminars and association meetings to remain current with industry trends, issues, and regulations.

·       Perform other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:  

·       Undergraduate degree in aviation, business management or a closely related field, with a minimum of five years of increasingly responsible experience in the management and operation of airports with at least two years in a supervisory position; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

·       CM certification is highly desirable.


KNOWLEDGE OF EFFECTIVE:

·       Airport supervision and operations; 

·       FAA and State regulations pertaining to airport operations; 

·       Airport safety requirements and practices; 

·       Supervisory principles and practices; 

·       Formats and conditions of lease agreements;

·       Customer service techniques; 


DEMONSTRATED SKILL IN:

·       Use of independent judgment;

·       Team leadership;

·       Written and verbal communication principles; and personal computer software applications.

·       Exemplify an enthusiastic, resourceful, and effective customer service attitude;

·       Effectively supervise and evaluate personnel; 

·       Establish and maintain effective, fair, cooperative, collaborative and respectful relationships with internal and external colleagues, leadership and community;

·       Work under the pressure of deadlines; 

·       Respond to emergencies and take appropriate action.

·       May need to stay awake for extended hours during emergency situations.

·       Ability to drive and walk around the airfield.

·       Ability to sit at desk for long periods of time.

Salary : $75,000 - $100,000
