As an Intake & Resource Specialist, your role is critical to our ministry as the first point of contact and a gatekeeper to our services. You will quickly assess the needs of our clients and triage them to determine the best available services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position requires an understanding of the entire scope of services provided by Atlanta Mission - The Potter's House to determine our ability to meet our clients' immediate and long-term needs. The Intake & Resource Specialist will connect clients with appropriate resources, both internally and externally, and provide case management support to ensure successful navigation through the available services.

Ensures a warm and engaging client experience by welcoming them to Atlanta Mission, and works to build rapport

Responds to admission inquiries through various channels

Performs initial screenings for admissions to determine the client's eligibility for internal or external services

Provides case management services by assessing client needs and connecting them to relevant resources within or outside Atlanta Mission

Collaborates and communicates with other teams to facilitate the intake, orientation, and case management process for new clients

Ensures clients complete paperwork correctly and enter information into the client management database

Facilitates access to services, such as housing, employment, healthcare, and mental health resources, to address clients' immediate and long-term needs

Monitors clients' progress and follows up to ensure they are connected to appropriate services and resources

Assists clients in overcoming barriers by offering case management and support throughout their stay

Performs new client orientation and explains types of services offered by Atlanta Mission - The Potter's House

Assign beds to clients in the management database

Assists with crisis intervention management through the utilization of crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques

Assists with client check-in, which may include carrying their personal belongings

Coordinates health checks and screening for communicable diseases

Position Requirements:
- Possess a working knowledge of (1) the process of mental illness, (2) the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders (DSM) and (3) recovery philosophy
- Ability to use objective and subjective measurements to assess and analyze client's needs
- Ability to leverage motivational interviewing to accurately assess client's need and match to internal and external resources
- Demonstrates a calling to serve men in recovery and guide them through spiritual and personal transformation.
- Previous experience in social services, case management, or substance abuse treatment preferred.
- Experience working with individuals facing addiction, homelessness, or mental health challenges is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with clients in a compassionate and respectful manner.
- Ability to conduct thorough intake assessments, including gathering personal, medical, and psychological histories.
- Knowledge of addiction recovery principles, trauma-informed care, and crisis intervention strategies.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate documentation and record-keeping.
- Strong computer literacy skills to effectively navigate our client database system
- Ability to de-escalate conflicts and provide support in high-stress situations.
- Confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive client information, adhering to HIPAA and ethical Christian counseling principles.
- Works cooperatively with team members and other departments to ensure smooth intake and service processes.
- Identifies client challenges and employs creative solutions to address barriers and meet needs.
- Manages multiple tasks efficiently, prioritizing work in a fast-paced, client-centered environment.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
- The position is located on a large multi-building property, requiring frequent movement between facilities throughout the day.
- Must be physically able to walk significant distances, climb stairs, and navigate between buildings in various weather conditions (rain, heat, cold, etc.).
- Requires the ability to stand for extended periods, particularly during intake interviews, group orientations, or crisis interventions.
- May involve occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs.), such as assisting clients with belongings or setting up program materials.
- Work environment includes office spaces, dormitory-style housing, meeting rooms, chapel, dining areas, and outdoor spaces, requiring flexibility and adaptability.
- Ability to respond quickly to urgent situations, including walking across campus or assisting with client needs in different buildings.
- Must be comfortable working in an active, sometimes unpredictable environment with individuals in various stages of addiction recovery, mental health struggles, or personal crisis.
