Valet / Lot Attendant

The Lot Attendant/Valet/Porter helps manage the vehicles in our busy parking area. He/she organizes vehicles to maximize the use of lot space and keep the lot in order. In addition, he/she will receive delivery of new vehicles to the dealership and retrieve vehicles from the storage facility for delivery.

The ideal candidate has a high energy level, a desire to work in a fast paced environment, and a valid and clean NY driver’s license. Candidates must be especially courteous, as they are in constant contact with customers. However, their foremost skills need to be in the safe driving of automobiles of diverse types. As an attendant, he/she needs to know how to drive both manual and automatic transmission cars and must be able to maneuver vehicles in small spaces and ensure that they do not get damaged.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers in a pleasant manner and assists in their car parking needs
• Drives customers vehicles to designated parking locations in a safe manner
• Assists in jump starting vehicles as required
• Ensures that all keys and remotes are returned to the appropriate locations
• Moves and delivers vehicles to sites and locations as required
• Monitors condition of vehicles in the lots and notifies supervisor of any issues that need to be addressed
• Maintains lots, keeping them clean and free of debris
• Completes some janitorial responsibilities as assigned
• Prepares vehicles for delivery prep or to be serviced by installing mats and plastic to protect interiors, making key tags, and driving vehicles from the service lanes to the service stalls
• Moves vehicles not currently being serviced and keeps an orderly area so that vehicles can be found easily and moved
• Maintains the service drop-off area clean and free of debris
• Retrieves newly-serviced vehicles for customers
• Follows all shop policy, procedure, safety, and environmental rules
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass a drug test and a background check
• Must have a valid and clean NY state driver’s license
• Must be able to operate both manual and automatic cars
• Must be reliable and able to follow directions
• Must have an excellent attendance record and a commitment to being on time
• Must demonstrate good judgment to make sound decisions about efficiency and safety
• Highly organized
• Capable of working independently
• Strong multitasking skills
• Outgoing personality with excellent communication skills and professional appearance
• Able to work in non-climate controlled environments
