We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Biller to join our neurosurgery group. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of medical billing and coding, with the ability to manage and process complex neurosurgery claims. As a Medical Biller, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate billing, resolving claim issues, and maintaining compliance with regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Claim Preparation and Submission:
- Prepare and submit accurate billing claims for neurosurgical procedures and consultations to insurance companies and other payers.
- Ensure proper coding for all medical services, including CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes.
Account Management:
- Review patient records and surgical documentation to verify charges and ensure accurate billing.
- Address and resolve billing discrepancies, rejections, and denials in a timely manner.
Patient Interaction:
- Communicate with patients regarding their billing inquiries, payment plans, and insurance coverage.
- Provide clear explanations of charges, insurance benefits, and out-of-pocket costs.
Insurance Coordination:
- Work closely with insurance carriers to track claims status and expedite payment.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and appeals to ensure timely reimbursement.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical billing regulations, payer policies, and coding guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements related to patient billing and information security.
Reporting and Analysis:
Assist with month-end and year-end financial reconciliation.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in healthcare administration, medical billing and coding, or related field preferred.
- Certification as a Medical Coder (CPC, CCS) or Medical Biller (CMRS) is preferred.
- Proven experience in medical billing, with a strong understanding of neurosurgery procedures and coding.
- Proficiency in billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Experience with major medical, motor vehicle and workers' compensation claims is a must.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
