Atlantic Brain and Spine, an affiliate of Atlantic Health System, seeks a Full-Time Patient Service Rep (PSR) for our Neurosurgical Outpatient Offices in New Brunswick, NJ and Manalapan, NJ. Under general supervision, the PSR will provide all administrative front end office duties, as well as other administrative functions including but not limited to, initiating patient intake; scheduling appointments; performing insurance screening and verification processes; and patient registration.
This position will be cross trained with our Outpatient Scheduler role. The Outpatient Scheduler is responsible for handling a high volume of customer calls/inquiries; responding to medical records requests and billing inquiries; preparing reports; maintenance of department records.
This position will be expected to travel between both New Brunswick, NJ and Manalapan, NJ locations.
Job Responsibilities
· Greets patients and families to the practice, provides necessary registration form to the patient for completion and signature, reviews same for accuracy, updates patient information in EPIC and notifies staff that patient is ready.
· Monitor patient flow by providing timely check-in procedures and communicating extensive wait times to patients and staff in a courteous manner.
· Efficiently and timely answers the phone and directs calls to the appropriate staff or records messages.
· Verifies correct insurance information via insurance card. Scan a copy of card in chart.
· Daily chart scrubbing to verify patient demographics, insurance information etc. for upcoming appointments.
· Collection of co-pays and or outstanding balances for services at each visit.
· Using practice management system appropriately to schedule, reschedule and cancel patient appointments.
· Complete patient disability paperwork as needed.
· Maintain a clean waiting room by sanitizing surface areas, restocking marketing items, and refilling any necessary stock items.
· Organize and maintain the check-in area by ensuring all machines are working accurately and reporting any non-functioning equipment to the office manager.
· Performing other duties as assigned by providers, coordinators and management in accordance with established office policy.
· Complete cross-training as outpatient scheduler
· Willingness to travel to additional offices to perform administrative functions.
Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements
· High School diploma or equivalent required.
· At least 1 year of experience in a patient service setting.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Good organizational skills: ability to set priorities effectively.
· Knowledge of EPIC/EMR preferred.
· Knowledge of insurance preferred.
· Willingness to travel to multiple offices
· Prior Epic (EMR system) experience preferred.
· Must be able to read, write and speak English.
Compensation is based on experience.
