Position Overview:
American Anthracite is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to lead all aspects of our accounting operations and financial reporting. This key leadership position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of the organization’s financial data. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong foundation in accounting principles, internal controls, and cash flow management within a fast-paced, industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and manage all daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and inventory accounting.
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting following Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Monitor cash flow activity and maintain accurate forecasting to support financial planning and operational needs.
- Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, and supporting schedules.
- Ensure compliance with internal control procedures, tax regulations, and financial policies.
- Provide analytical support to executive leadership through financial reports, trend analysis, and explanations of variances.
- Lead the evaluation and implementation of financial systems to improve reporting capabilities and operational efficiency.
- Assist in developing annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial planning initiatives.

Requirements:Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation strongly preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership in a controller or senior accounting role.
- In-depth knowledge of US GAAP, financial compliance standards, and internal controls.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Point of Sale (POS) systems; advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Proven experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and system implementation or optimization.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
