Position Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and motivated VRF Team Leader to guide our team of technicians in the installation, service, and preventive maintenance of Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems across a variety of commercial projects. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who is highly experienced with multiple VRF system brands and capable of leading by example in the field. The VRF Team Leader will serve as the go-to resource for troubleshooting, layout best practices, and system optimization across all stages of the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Field Support:
- Lead by example on job sites, providing technical support and mentoring for VRF technicians.
- Help assign daily tasks, support scheduling, and ensure field readiness for each project.
- Promote high standards of workmanship, safety, and professionalism across the team.
- Act as the liaison between field crews and project managers to ensure successful execution.
Technical Expertise:
- Oversee and perform installation, startup, commissioning, and service of VRF systems from at least three major manufacturers (e.g., Daikin, Mitsubishi, LG, Samsung).
- Assist with layout reviews, refrigerant line routing, equipment placement, and control strategies to ensure optimal system performance.
- Lead diagnostics and troubleshooting efforts for complex issues in the field.
- Support warranty service, documentation, and communication with OEMs as needed.
- ACI will also offer ongoing training for VRF systems, installation design, and other certifications that will be beneficial for career growth
Preventive Maintenance & Service Quality:
- Execute and supervise routine maintenance to ensure systems operate efficiently and reliably.
- Review service reports for accuracy and provide feedback for improvements.
- Identify recurring issues and contribute to solutions and system design enhancements.
Design & Best Practices:
- Collaborate with estimators and design teams to provide input on VRF system layouts and installation feasibility.
- Recommend design improvements based on lessons learned in the field.
- Ensure all work complies with local and state codes, manufacturer requirements, and project specifications.
Required Qualifications:
- 10 years of experience in commercial HVAC, with a strong focus on VRF systems.
- Hands-on experience with at least three different VRF manufacturers' systems.
- Ability to lead field teams, train junior technicians, and manage day-to-day jobsite challenges.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical system design, refrigerant piping, and controls.
- Familiarity with BMS integration and commissioning practices.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical and control drawings.
- EPA Universal Certification; OSHA 30 preferred.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- VRF OEM certifications (Daikin, LG, Mitsubishi, etc.).
- Experience working with service/dispatch software and mobile job tracking tools.
- Exposure to heat recovery and simultaneous heating/cooling systems.
