Description

The Atlantic Council seeks a creative, motivated, and hard-working program assistant to support the administrative and programmatic activities in the fluid environment of the Women Innovators (WIn) Fellowship. The ideal candidate will have an interest in international business, entrepreneurship, and women’s economic empowerment. The program assistant will work closely with the Assistant Director and Associate Director of the WIn Fellowship on all aspects of day-to- day program management.


The ideal candidate will be remarkably well-organized and detail-oriented and will have demonstrable administrative experience, communication experience and experience in event execution and logistics.


The program assistant will manage meetings and arrange travel logistics for the WIn Fellowship team, support the planning and execution of events, support the recruitment of fellows, draft social media content, update the WIn Fellowship webpage, manage and liaise with internal and external contacts, draft weekly activity reports and maintain team files, among other responsibilities. The candidate will also be encouraged to engage in their own research and publishing.


A successful candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit, communicate effectively, and proactively seek out opportunities for growth. The position requires a superior ability to multitask with demonstrable experience in coordinating multiple projects and events, excellent administrative skills, exceptional writing ability, attention to detail, and a positive attitude. Experience living, studying or working in the Middle East region and proficiency in Arabic are a plus.


This position is based in our Washington, DC, headquarters, requiring a minimum of 4 days per week in office. The Atlantic Council offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience, education, and organizational equity, with offers from $53,000 to $59,000. Applications submitted by February 21, 2025 will be prioritized for consideration.

 

Job responsibilities

  • Manage, coordinate, and schedule WIn Fellowship internal and external meetings.
  • Arrange team travel to the Middle East.
  • Support the planning and execution of several WIn Fellowship events, roundtables, webinars across various Middle East countries and in Washington.
  • Support the planning and execution of the annual “WIn Fellowship Roadshow” fellows visit the US and other regional conferences.
  • Oversee and coordinate multiple projects including events, research, podcast trackers, and publications related to entrepreneurship.
  • Draft social media posts to promote articles, events, podcasts, and projects; collaborating with the communications team to successfully promote the WIn Fellowship projects and entrepreneurship-related events and publications.
  • Prepare briefing materials, background memos, and weekly activity reports on WIn Fellowship activities for senior members of the Atlantic Council.
  • Serve as a liaison for internal and external offices, including high-level US and foreign government officials, diplomats, business executives, board members, and internal Council employees and management.
  • Organize and oversee the proper maintenance of files, documents (e.g. proposals, presentations, meeting notes, social media posts, speeches, etc), contacts, and confidential records to assist senior management in tracking and prioritizing various tasks and projects.
  • Support other Middle East Programs activities as appropriate.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as Middle East affairs, international affairs, or economics/business.
  • Approximately 0-2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Excellent organizational, logistical, and administrative skills.
  • Experience supporting the planning and execution of events.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Superior writing, communication, and analytic skills.
  • Ability to represent the Atlantic Council to external constituencies, such as senior officials, board members, donors, and individual and corporate members.
  • HTML and web skills are a plus.
  • Demonstrable interest in the MENA region.
  • Experience living, studying or working in the MENA region is highly desired, as is proficiency in the Arabic language.
