Description

We are seeking a Deputy Director of Revenue Operations, who will be curious, driven, organized, and a firm believer in the importance of quality data and systems management. The Deputy Director will report to the Vice President of Finance and Administration. The Deputy Director's mission is to lead a team that provides critical operational services to the Council's 16 programs and centers as part of the Office of Finance and Operations. This is an exciting opportunity for a strong leader to put their mark on a new approach to how the growing Atlantic Council delivers its Revenue Operations goals. Preference will be given to candidates with an understanding of the Atlantic Council's work and a belief in our mission.


This position is based in our Washington, DC, headquarters, requiring a minimum of 4 days per week in office. The Atlantic Council offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience, education, and organizational equity, with offers from $96,000 to $145,000.

Job Responsibilities

Revenue Operations

  • Supervise efforts and processes relating to agreement review and documentation.
  • Provide CRM-based projected revenue data for use in budget creation. Consult and guide Development and Program/Center Directors in CRM projected revenue data entry.
  • Oversee CRM data for accuracy and utilize donor metrics for analytical purposes, including creating donation reports and performance dashboards.
  • Ensure CRM data and reporting reconciles with financial platforms on a monthly basis.
  • Oversee the continued roll-out of capacity building and training exercises related to CRM uptake and maintenance throughout the Council.
  • Advise on Salesforce integration with other platforms across the Council, including Workday Adaptive Planning.

Reporting and Systems Management

  • Provide strategic oversight of all donor management systems and processes including data management and governance, analytics, reporting, training, hygiene, segmentation and support.
  • Identify areas where Development policies and processes should be strengthened to ensure legal compliance. Develop and/or modify said policies and processes in coordination with the Deputy Director, Office of Finance and Operations and ensure all are being followed.
  • Regularly assess the efficiency of control systems and recommend effective improvements.
  • Create customized reports for Development Directors to ensure proper tracking and follow up with donors.
  • Manage credit card merchant processors and Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate with Salesforce contractor to ensure proper maintenance, software updates, and back-ups are occurring of stored data.

Development Administration

  • Assess and improve core Revenue and Development operating procedures across a range of services, including but not limited to donor acknowledgements, invoice generation, records retention, etc.
  • Ensure proper documentation and upkeep of key Development operating procedures, signature authorities, gift acceptance policies and similar processes.
  • Oversee due diligence process for new and renewed funders.
  • Oversee mail and check processing, in-house production efforts, and other functions that require coordination of physical facilities.
  • Plan and conduct staff training on gift documentation and invoice generation.
  • Assist with developing the Annual Report, particularly the Honor Roll of Contributors.
  • Create and manage a schedule for reviewing, updating, and auditing policies, standard operating procedures, internal controls, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Maintain 4-star rating from Charity Navigator to ensure the Atlantic Council demonstrates to its donors our adherence to "best practices" to maintain transparency and ethics.

Team & Relationship Management

  • Partner effectively with the staff from the Executive Office, Office of Finance and Operations, and across the Council's 16 programs and Centers to implement strategic solutions to maximize philanthropic services and revenue generation.
  • Build and supervise a team of two direct reports that effectively deliver a client-services approach to meeting goals and implementing best practices on behalf of the Development team.
  • Manage and optimize RFP processes to secure core operational vendors and maintain core vendor relationships for the team, such as subscriptions and other operational resources, as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; preferred fields of study include Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Nonprofit Management, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field. A master's degree (MBA, MPA, or equivalent) is a plus.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience.
  • 2-4 years' experience supervising employees.
  • Experience with creating and customizing CRM reports.
Required Skills/Qualifications/Experience
  • Ability to work in partnership with multiple direct reports, organizational leadership, and program and center directors to build a high-performing team and achieve results.
  • Strong familiarity with fundraising CRM operations, experience with Salesforce strongly preferred.
  • Ability to develop, monitor, and communicate complex policies and processes to ensure legal compliance and risk analysis.
  • Familiarity with gift documentation standards, including formal donor agreements.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess operational needs, prioritize among competing needs, and align and move others toward agreed-upon goals.
  • Ability to deliver metrics/KPIs on the fundraising programs to inform strategic decision-making at the department and organizational levels.
  • Knowledgeable about gift acceptance policies, revenue recognition policies and procedures, and donor privacy concerns.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and document project management timelines and milestones with clear ownership of responsibilities, providing ongoing reporting of progress in a meaningful manner including risks and consequences while holding people accountable to deadlines.
  • Experience with organizational budgeting process and developing revenue pipelines for decentralized organizations, preferred.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to work in a dynamic environment and on multiple projects simultaneously.
