Reporting to the Deputy Director of Strategy and Operations, the Assistant Director will lead our communications efforts including social media, graphics and video production, event and publications support, email marketing, and maintenance of the GEC’s webpages on the Atlantic Council website as well as support the development of new work products. The broader team will look to this individual to conceptualize and implement the communications strategy and advance community engagement within an entrepreneurial atmosphere. The ideal candidate will have experience with graphic and / or video design, website maintenance, email marketing, working with journalists, and an interest in energy and climate policy. This position requires cross-collaboration with colleagues in other regional and thematic centers across the Atlantic Council, in particular the position will involve close coordination with the broader Atlantic Council communications and digital teams.
The successful candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit, superb communication skills, and enjoy the complexity of helping to expand a rapidly growing program. The candidate should have a background in communications, public relations, graphic design, or a related field. Special consideration will be given to candidates with demonstrable interest and / or experience in energy and environmental industries, political science, international relations, and geopolitics. The candidate should also have a proven aptitude to take initiative, make sound judgments, assume responsibility and work independently in a fast-paced Center with tight deadlines and competing priorities.
This position is based in our Washington, DC, headquarters, requiring a minimum of 4 days per week in office. The Atlantic Council offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience, education, and organizational equity, with offers from $60,000 to $63,000. Job Responsibilities
Digital, social media, and email marketing :
- Manage GEC X and LinkedIn social media accounts (including select staff accounts).
- Create graphics and video content as needed for digital and print media use.
- Manage and compile the GEC’s biweekly email newsletter.
- Coordinate event invitation process and grow event attendance.
- Manage the various GEC email lists and work to grow our online reach.
