Overview:
The Medical Assistant supports healthcare providers by delivering exceptional clinical care and administrative support to ensure smooth operations in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Support:
- Perform vital signs measurements, including blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation.
- Assist providers during patient examinations, minor procedures, and treatments, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Administer medications and injections accurately and safely as directed by healthcare providers.
- Provide patient education on medication administration, self-care techniques, and treatment plans.
- Perform phlebotomy, specimen collection, and basic lab tests as needed.
- Assist with inhalation therapies and respiratory treatments for patients with respiratory conditions.
Medical Administrative Support:
- Schedule appointments, coordinate referrals, and manage follow-up care.
- Update and maintain accurate patient records in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Assist with medical coding and billing processes to ensure accurate documentation and reimbursement.
- Handle patient inquiries and communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
Environment and Compliance:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked medical environment.
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols, including proper sterilization of equipment.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and other organizational standards to safeguard patient confidentiality.
Quality Improvement and Collaboration:
- Support quality assurance initiatives by ensuring accurate documentation and process adherence.
- Work collaboratively with healthcare providers, administrative staff, and other clinical team members to ensure seamless patient care.
Qualifications and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
- Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar clinical role preferred.
- Proficient in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and coding practices.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, such as Dr. Chrono, and hospital protocols.
Skills and Abilities:
- Expertise in vital signs measurement techniques and understanding of human anatomy and physiology.
- Ability to administer medications accurately and provide compassionate, patient-centered care.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with patients, families, and team members.
- Knowledge of infection control protocols and commitment to maintaining a safe clinical environment.
