Key Responsibilities:
Patient Onboarding and Registration:
- Accurately collect and input patient demographic, insurance, and medical information into the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
- Ensure all patient registration forms are complete and compliant with organizational policies.
Appointment Scheduling and Coordination:
- Schedule patient appointments based on provider availability and clinic guidelines.
- Manage appointment reminders, cancellations, and rescheduling requests.
Insurance Verification and Payment Processing:
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits prior to appointments.
- Assist patients in understanding their coverage and any out-of-pocket expenses.
- Process payments, co-pays, and deposits securely and accurately.
Patient Communication:
- Serve as the first point of contact for patients, addressing inquiries related to scheduling, registration, and insurance.
- Respond to phone calls, emails, and portal messages promptly and professionally.
Compliance and Confidentiality:
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and organizational standards.
- Ensure patient data is securely stored and handled.
Administrative and Operational Support:
- Audit and verify the accuracy of patient records and data entry.
- Collaborate with other team members to streamline processes and resolve issues.
Problem-Solving and Conflict Resolution:
- Address patient concerns or barriers to registration with professionalism and efficiency.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to resolve issues that may impact patient care or workflow.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in healthcare administration or related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in patient registration, scheduling, or related roles in a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency in EMR systems and insurance verification processes.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality.
