Overview :
The Ophthalmic Technician / Scribe will work alongside our ophthalmologists to provide clinical support and ensure accurate, real-time documentation of patient encounters. In this dual role, the technician will perform essential diagnostic tests and procedures while simultaneously documenting patient history, exams, and treatment plans in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Responsibilities :
Ophthalmic Technician Duties :
- Perform comprehensive patient intake, including obtaining medical history, recording vital signs, and documenting chief complaints.
- Conduct ophthalmic diagnostic tests such as visual acuity, refraction, tonometry, and fundus photography.
- Assist in preparing patients for examinations and surgeries, ensuring they are informed and comfortable.
- Facilitate the smooth flow of patients through various stages of evaluation, optimizing efficiency and minimizing wait times.
- Prepare examination rooms meticulously, ensuring all necessary medications, forms, consents, and educational materials are readily available for patient use.
- Maintain and troubleshoot ophthalmic equipment as needed.
