Summary
Atlantic Fabricating Company, a women-owned metal fabrication and machining business, is seeking a skilled Part-Time Press Brake Operator to join our team. This role involves setting up and operating a press brake to bend, form, and shape sheet metal components according to precise specifications. You will work closely with the Production Manager and Engineering Team to ensure accuracy, quality, and efficiency in fabrication. This position requires experience with press brake operation, blueprint reading, and knowledge of metal forming techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate press brake machines to bend and form sheet metal components per job specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure accurate bending sequences.
- Select and install proper tooling for different materials and bending applications.
- Measure and inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools to ensure they meet required tolerances.
- Adjust machine settings as needed to maintain accuracy and consistency.
- Troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance on press brake equipment.
- Assist with material handling, part staging, and workflow coordination to keep production running smoothly.
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet production deadlines and maintain quality standards.
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
Qualifications
- Experience operating press brakes in a metal fabrication environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and shop drawings.
- Knowledge of metal types, thicknesses, and forming techniques.
- Familiarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to hold tight tolerances.
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills for press brake adjustments and maintenance.
- Ability to lift materials up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Previous experience in aerospace, manufacturing, or metal fabrication preferred.
- Understanding of ISO quality standards is a plus.
