Security Guard Position Summary
Responsible for carrying out the security program by maintaining a safe, secure environment in the medical facility, campus and satellite offices by providing the protection of patients, employees, visitors, and their property.
Security Guard Position Requirements
- Work rotating shifts and varying hours as needed
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Transit stairwells in an expeditious manner
- Ability to lift 30 lbs.
- Monitor in-house communications via overhead paging system and security radio
- Work in all types of weather conditions
- Ability to de-escalate situations
- Conduct thorough investigations and document findings
- Successful Completions of assignments within time restraints provided
- Follow directions and provide feedback
- Must Complete 12 hours of training mandated by the Maryland State Police for Security Guard License or possess a current Maryland Security Guard License
- Must complete 80 hours of training mandated by the Maryland State Police and be commissioned as a Special Police Officer within one year of hire.
- Must be able to successfully undergo a comprehensive background and character investigation.
- Ongoing training: Security Guard License:12 hours of in-service mandated by Maryland State Police every 2 years.
- Ongoing training: Special Police Officer Commission:12 hours of in-service mandated by Maryland State Police every 3 years.
- Valid driver's license and verification of insurability under Atlantic General Hospital automobile insurance plan.
- Reliable transportation
Education
- High School Graduate or G.E.D.
Experience
- Minimum, One-year prior experience in law enforcement, corrections, fire or security related job preferred
- Basic knowledge of criminal laws
- Microsoft word and other basic computer skills
Security Guard Benefits
- Uniforms provided except for footwear.
- At Atlantic General, full-time Public Safety employees working at least 80 hours per pay period, part-time employees working at least 24 hours per pay period are eligible for benefits.

Salary range: $18.00-$33.00 Commensurate with experience
