Job Title: Assistant Controller - Investment Management - Hybrid
Job Summary:
The Assistant Controller will play a crucial role in managing the financial operations of our investment management and wealth management services. This position requires a deep understanding of financial reporting, investment accounting, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation and review of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
- Month-End Close: Oversee the month-end close process, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis.
- Investment Accounting: Manage the accounting for investment portfolios, including the recording of transactions, valuation, and performance reporting.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including SEC reporting, and support internal and external audits.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of budgets and financial forecasts, providing analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the integrity of financial records.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies in accounting operations and implement best practices.
- Special Projects: Participate in and lead special projects related to financial systems implementation, mergers and acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance, preferably within the investment management or wealth management industry.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP, investment accounting, and regulatory requirements (e.g., SEC reporting).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP). Experience with investment accounting systems is a plus.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
