The firm has built a reputation for delivering exceptional legal services to insurance carriers and is now creating this newly defined leadership role to optimize its financial operations and strategic growth initiatives.
The Opportunity
This newly created role provides a unique chance to shape and define the financial functions of a rapidly growing organization. As the CFO, you’ll have significant autonomy to implement strategies, systems, and processes while collaborating with leadership to drive financial performance and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Financial Leadership:
- Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with firm goals.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning initiatives.
Accounting & Compliance:
- Oversee accounting functions, including AR/AP, payroll, financial reporting, and trust accounts (IOLTA compliance).
- Ensure adherence to all legal, tax, and financial regulations.
Financial Analysis & Reporting:
- Present financial insights and KPIs to leadership.
- Conduct risk assessments and identify opportunities for growth and savings.
Leadership & Collaboration:
- Mentor and manage the finance team, fostering high performance.
- Partner with managing partners and department heads to optimize financial decisions.
Technology & Process Improvement:
- Lead financial system implementations and enhancements.
- Drive automation and efficiency in accounting processes.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA, CFA, or MBA preferred).
- Experience:
- 10 years of financial management experience in a law firm setting.
- Familiarity with insurance defense and trust accounting is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills:
- Expertise in financial management software, such as Bottom Line, Lex Exchange, or Tymetrix.
