Job Overview – Construction Estimator (Heavy Civil):
Step into the role of Construction Estimator (Heavy Civil) with our client in Philadelphia, PA. This on-site position is ideal for an experienced estimator specializing in public and private infrastructure projects, cost estimation, bid preparation, and project execution. Analyze project plans, develop precise estimates, and ensure projects meet budget, scheduling, and regulatory requirements while maintaining strict safety and compliance standards.
Compensation: $125,000 – $140,000/year bonus
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Responsibilities as the Construction Estimator:
- Project Estimation & Bidding: Review project plans and specifications to develop accurate cost estimates and competitive bids for public and private infrastructure projects.
- Client & Vendor Relations: Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors to support project bidding and execution.
- Contract Negotiation & Change Orders: Solicit bids, negotiate contracts, and assess pricing for change orders to ensure project profitability.
- Project Coordination: Oversee and coordinate project activities, ensuring work progresses on schedule and within budget.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all work adheres to MSHA, OSHA, and company safety policies, implementing best practices for risk mitigation.
- Technology & Reporting: Utilize specialized estimating and project management software to optimize cost analysis, scheduling, and job tracking.
Qualifications for the Construction Estimator:
- Education: Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
- Experience: 5-10 years of experience in heavy civil construction with a strong understanding of infrastructure projects within the Greater Philadelphia Region, must have DOT experience, preferably PA DOT.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and estimating/project management software (such as HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, or Procore).
- Licensure & Certification: Certified PE preferred, with OSHA and other applicable safety certifications.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to meet job-related physical demands, including movement, lifting, and PPE usage as needed.
