Job Overview – Director of Compliance (Private Equity):
Step into a critical leadership role with our client as a Director of Compliance in the Washington DC area. In this hybrid position, you will oversee the compliance program for a dynamic private equity firm, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and best practices. Collaborating with the General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer, you will drive the firm’s compliance initiatives, adapt to evolving regulations, and safeguard the organization’s reputation.
Compensation: $175,000 – $225,000/year base ($250,000 – $275,000 All-In)
Location: Bethesda, MD – Washington DC Area
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Responsibilities as the Director of Compliance:
- Compliance Program Management: Partner with the General Counsel & CCO to oversee and continuously enhance the firm’s compliance program.
- Regulatory Monitoring: Stay updated on evolving regulations and industry trends to proactively adjust the compliance program.
- Exam Preparedness: Establish and maintain processes to ensure readiness for SEC examinations and other regulatory inquiries.
- Testing & Surveillance: Lead annual compliance reviews, manage testing processes, monitor trading activity, and refine testing frameworks.
- Policy Development: Draft, implement, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and manuals aligned with regulatory requirements.
- Marketing & Vendor Oversight: Review marketing materials, Due Diligence Questionnaires (DDQs), and third-party compliance activities for regulatory adherence.
Qualifications for the Director of Compliance:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required, with a preference for advanced credentials such as a JD, CFA, or CPA.
- Experience: 7-10 years of experience in compliance roles, particularly in hedge funds, private equity, asset management, or compliance consulting.
- Technical Expertise: Familiarity with compliance systems and tools (e.g., ComplySci, Global Relay).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Experienced in compliance for investment advisers, hedge funds, and private equity, with familiarity in SEC exams and inquiries.
- Skills: Superior attention to detail, strong communication and organizational abilities, and exceptional stakeholder management with cross-functional project execution.
