Job Overview – Director of Technical Accounting:
Drive technical accounting excellence with our client as a Director of Technical Accounting in Chester, PA. This hybrid role is ideal for an experienced professional with deep expertise in US GAAP and SEC reporting. Oversee complex accounting transactions, provide policy guidance, and ensure regulatory compliance across financial operations.
Compensation: $150,000 – $170,000/year bonus
Location: Chester, PA
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Responsibilities as the Director of Technical Accounting:
- Technical Accounting & Compliance: Oversee, review, and approve complex non-routine transactions, ensuring alignment with US GAAP and SOX compliance.
- Financial Analysis & Reporting: Lead accounting reviews for acquisitions, divestitures, revenue recognition, leases, financing transactions, and foreign currency matters.
- Regulatory & SEC Compliance: Evaluate and implement new accounting guidance from the FASB, SEC, and other regulatory bodies, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Treasury, Tax, Legal, FP&A, M&A, and Business Controllers to drive financial accuracy and strategic decision-making.
- Audit & Controls Management: Engage with external auditors to resolve technical accounting matters and strengthen internal controls.
- Leadership & Advisory: Provide executive leadership with technical accounting guidance, policy updates, and strategic recommendations.
Qualifications for the Director of Technical Accounting:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required (MBA preferred).
- Certification: CPA required.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years in technical accounting, preferably within a Big 4 firm or an industry-related accounting policy role, with required experience at the Manager or Senior Manager level.
- Industry Knowledge: Preferred experience in industrial products, manufacturing, distribution, pharma, or retail, with additional expertise in mergers and acquisitions as a plus.
- Technical Skills: Expertise in US GAAP and SEC reporting, with IFRS knowledge as a plus.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and interact across all organizational levels.
