Hedge Fund Accountant

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting Functions:

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts for the fund and management company.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes.
• Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and filing deadlines.
• Track and report fund performance, including NAV calculations and investor allocations.

Operations Functions:

• Manage trade settlements and liaise with brokers, custodians, and counterparties to resolve discrepancies.
• Reconcile positions, transactions, and cash balances daily.
• Support portfolio managers by providing operational data and insights.
• Oversee the onboarding process for new investors, ensuring compliance with KYC/AML regulations.
• Collaborate with third-party administrators to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2-5 years of experience in accounting, operations, or a similar role within the investment management or financial services industry.
• Strong understanding of financial instruments, trade settlement processes, and fund accounting principles.
• Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with accounting and trading systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Bloomberg, Advent, or similar).
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a proactive approach to tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA or progress toward such certifications is a plus.
• Experience with private funds, hedge funds, or other alternative investment structures.
