Job Summary:
Performs service and repair tasks on boats utilizing various power and hand-tools. Ability to install electronic systems and troubleshoot electronic problems. Works independently, but with regular instruction and checkpoints to ensure correct completion of assignments. Lay out, install, test, troubleshoot, repair and modify marine navigational, communication, and entertainment systems in the production and/or service of boats.
Essential Duties
· Able to install and troubleshoot basic electronic marine systems and equipment.
· Perform basic installation, diagnosis, and repair of marine navigational, communication, and entertainment and computer systems following blueprints and manufacturers’ specifications, using hand-tools and test instrumentation.
- Sets up and knows how to operate most marine electronics. May perform software programming as necessary to complete installations.
- Skilled in reading, drawing and interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Test electronic components and circuits to diagnose and locate defects using signal generators, ammeters, and voltmeters.
- May operate equipment to check functioning of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions.
- Align, adjust, calibrate, repair, and modify circuitry and components and report on unit performance.
- Receives instruction from supervisors regarding layout and assembly procedures and receives detailed instruction for more complex installations.
- Interprets work orders and plans projects to be completed.
- Develops material lists for project completion.
- Provide correct information required to order equipment parts.
- Follow defined instructions and procedures in performance of tasks.
- Follow manufacturers’ requirements for repair or return of defective equipment
- Has regular client contact requiring exceptional customer service communication skills.
- Follows schedule and communicates changes to appropriate individuals.
- Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain safe, clean work area.
- All work to be performed to AME/Viking quality standards.
- Perform other related duties as necessary and assigned.

Qualifications:
Associate of Science in Electronic Technology or related degree or a combination of education and equivalent work experience
Marine trade knowledge preferred.
One to three years’ experience installing, diagnosing, and repairing electronic and computer equipment.
Physical Requirements:
Lift and Carry over 25 lbs. and up to 60 lbs. on an occasional basis (over 15% and up to 40%)
Requires occasionally lifting or moving average weight materials
Must be able to stoop, bend, kneel, lift, push, pull, work at heights and in tight, cramped spaces.
Concentrated mental and visual attention for laying out and performing complex work to very close limits of high accuracy.
Requires working under disagreeable conditions on a frequent basis where elements such as dust, dirt, heat, fumes, cold, vibration, noise, water or chemicals may be present.
Work may be performed on boats in and out of water.
Other Requirements:
Requires flexibility to work various schedules that include early starts and weekends.
Rotational schedule and on-call assignments.
Periodic Overtime required.
Mandatory travel to customer, vendor, or other company locations.
Valid Vehicle Operator’s License
