The Operations Manager is responsible for the overall operations of a transflo distribution facility, ensuring efficient processes across all terminal areas. This includes managing customer accounts and relationships, while developing and leading a team of goal-oriented operators. The Operation Manager will oversee initiatives such as new account start-ups, training plans, facility audits, corrective actions, and scope changes, ensuring that shipping, receiving, and inventory processes meet objectives for both the company and its customers. The Operations Manager will manage safety, security, quality, and maintenance requirements and ensure the care of all equipment and assets. A critical thinker focused on continuous improvement, proactively address operational challenges, identify root causes, and implement solutions to improve performance. This individual will also act as a change agent, driving results while ensuring associate and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Manage overall terminal operations, ensuring smooth processes in shipping, receiving, and inventory control.
- Implement and oversee initiatives related to new account start-ups, training plans, corrective actions, and facility audits.
- Coordinate activities related to customer requests and scope changes, ensuring efficient response and resolution.
- Develop, monitor and ensure compliance with SOP’s and cross training objectives, meeting both company and customer expectations.
- Manage labor costs to meet financial targets and optimize labor productivity.
- Forecast and plan manpower needs to align with workload demands, effectively managing overtime.
- Monitor team performance, provide coaching, and ensure effective communication with team members.
Employee Relations
- Develop and lead a team of goal-oriented associates, providing training, guidance, and mentorship.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures through coaching, counseling, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Foster a positive work environment, focusing on work-life balance while driving employee engagement and development.
· Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize operational efficiency, reduce errors, and eliminate waste.
- Promote a culture of safety, zero-damage handling, and high-quality standards within all terminal functions.
Training and Development
- Provide coaching to ensure operators are trained according to company and OSHA standards.
- Continuously evaluate work processes and implement training programs to ensure operational excellence.
Financial and Performance Management
- Oversee, manage and maintain budget controls within established guidelines.
- Ensure accurate revenue and billing capture per customer contracts.
Safety and Compliance
- Maintain OSHA and safety compliance records and conduct monthly and weekly safety meetings.
- Ensure facilities and equipment are compliant with safety standards.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Physical Demands/Environment: Requires frequent standing and walking around transflo yard. Lifting up to 50 pounds. Climbing ladders and railcars. Work environment may be subject to elevated noise levels. Exposure to outdoor conditions. Safety and adherence to guidelines are critical at all times.
