Atlantic Middle School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic 6th Grade English Language Arts (ELA) teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about fostering a love for reading and writing in young learners, and committed to helping students grow in literacy skills and critical thinking.
Our school operates on a block schedule, providing extended instructional time to dive deeper into content and build strong relationships with students. We are currently in the process of adopting a new ELA curriculum, offering a unique opportunity for incoming staff to collaborate in shaping engaging and effective instruction from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver standards-based ELA instruction for 6th grade students.

Support students in developing reading comprehension, writing, grammar, and vocabulary skills.

Utilize the block schedule to implement innovative, student-centered learning experiences.

Collaborate with colleagues in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to align instruction and assessment.

Participate in the ongoing adoption and implementation of a new ELA curriculum.

Communicate regularly with families and support students’ academic and personal growth.
Qualifications:

Valid Iowa teaching license with appropriate middle-level or English/Language Arts endorsement.
