Position Title: Athletic Trainer

Job Status: Full-Time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8AM – 5PM

Location: Portsmouth/Dover/York

Compensation: Starting at $24.00 per hour (Based on experience)

Our main practice is in Portsmouth, NH with additional offices in York, ME and Dover, NH (Opening in early 2025)

Position Summary

Atlantic Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic team member to join our dynamic workforce as an Athletic Trainer. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in supporting our orthopedic surgeons by assisting with patient care, procedures, and administrative tasks. Your responsibilities will include preparing patients for examinations and treatments and providing valuable support during office visits. Additionally, you will play a key role in ensuring seamless communication between patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff. Working Relations

Positions reports to: Christina Kuhn, Clinical Services Manager, and Shannon Merrill, Clinical Revenue Manager

Internal Relationships: Office Staff, Clinicians, AOSM and Procare Providers

External relationships: Patients

Position Requirements

Licenses or Certificates: Certification through BOC for Athletic Trainers, Completion of National Athletic Trainer’s Associate (NATA)

Education, vocational training, and experience:

  • Completion of a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education accredited program.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer and data entry skills
  • Physically present and on site at AOSM required

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrates a friendly and professional communication style.
  • Exhibits the ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks while maintaining composure under pressure.
  • Proficient in fundamental computer skills, including internet navigation, email correspondence, and familiarity with Microsoft applications.
  • 1 year(s) experience as an Athletic Trainer or a comparable role is preferred. New graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrates a high level of organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel between 3 different locations (Portsmouth/Dover, NH and York, ME)
  • Strong time management and problem-solving skills to effectively prioritize tasks and resolve challenges in a fast-paced medical environment.

Job Responsibilities

The Athletic Trainer’s tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Welcome and escort patients to examination rooms, ensuring their comfort and readiness for the physician.
  • Conduct interviews with patients to gather their medical history, measure vital signs, height, and weight.
  • Collect and organize relevant reports and radiological results to prepare accurate patient charts.
  • Provide assistance during treatments, including the removal of sutures and staples, preparation of injections, instruments, and materials.
  • Administer medications as directed by the physician and offer clear explanations of treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physicians’ instructions to patients.
  • Facilitate medication refills through e-prescription systems and communicate prescription details to pharmacies under authorized directives.
  • Prepare examination rooms for patient visits, ensuring cleanliness and readiness.
  • Sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies to maintain hygienic standards.
  • Educate patients on the use of durable medical equipment (DME) as needed.
  • Perform various clerical duties, including scheduling appointments, participating in phone triage, faxing prior authorizations and referrals, and managing electronic health records (EHR) efficiently.
  • Perform DME fittings and provide accurate instruction on use and application of equipment to support patient recovery and rehabilitation.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
