The Outside Sales Representative for Atlantic Plywood is responsible for strengthening customer relationships, driving volume and profit growth using a balanced approach of new business development and existing account management.
Responsibilities:
- General:
- Assist in building individual sales and profit plan
- Develop expertise on market and products
- Understand and explain company policies and procedures
- Provide product pricing and account level recommendations
- Participate in vendor training and develop product knowledge
- Plan and document call schedules in CRM
- Develop account-based strategies to protect, grow and drive business
- New Business Development:
- Responsible for developing a pipeline in CRM for new business
- Create pull-through for direct accounts by educating and influencing customers
- Introduce new products and complementary products to existing and new customers
- Develop strategies to increase market share with new and existing customers
- Execute company promotions and programs
- Prospect and develop new business targets/opportunities
- Account Management:
- Responsible for maintaining and protecting existing account business
- Train customer sales teams on product knowledge and selling techniques
- Provide merchandising support
- Address and resolve customer complaints and claims
- Set up and attend trades shows as needed
- Continuously build relationships through excellent customer follow-up and product resolution
Qualifications:
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong customer service skills (in-person and virtually)
- Self-motivated and functions well independently and within a team
- Able to present to groups large and small
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and hosting presentations
- Strong closing skills with customers and follow-up on commitments
- Able to travel throughout the assigned territory as required
- Strong analytical skills, including identifying and analyzing key market, customer and competitive trends
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree preferred or industry experience equivalent
- Experience:
- 3 years' experience in customer-facing sales within the building products industry
- Direct exposure to resolving customer concerns
- Experience in customer-facing selling
- Understanding of the building installation process
Work Environment:
- In-market 85% of the time (customer facing)
- Occasional overnight travel required
- Must react to short-lead customer requests, possible evenings or weekends for customer events
