Recently named a top seafood market of New England, Atlantic Seafood Market is located in Old Saybrook, CT. We offer our customers the best in high quality, fresh seafood as well as prepared foods including entrees, sides, soups and salads.
We are seeking a skilled and passionate assistant chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will be someone who loves seafood and is looking for a job with variety.
This individual, in conjunction with our head chef and other kitchen team members, will be involved in seafood production, food preparation and cooking, and recipe development. We are hoping to find an assistant chef who will understand our high standards, be willing to learn our systems, while bringing new ideas of their own.
Because we are a market and not a restaurant, our kitchen team works an early schedule, giving them a better work/life balance in the afternoons and evenings. The typical hours for this position are Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday 6am to 2pm, Tuesday and Friday 4am to noon, off on Sunday and Monday.
Responsibilities:
- Assist head chef in all aspects of culinary and seafood production.
- Prepare entrees, salads, side dishes, soups and chowders according to recipes and specifications
- Assist with recipe development
- Ensure all food items and other items are stored, handled and rotated correctly.
- Help maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment in line with all safe food handling practices.
Requirements:
- Experience in food service as a sous, prep or line cook
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented atmosphere.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced food production environment while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during busy periods.
- Positive attitude

- Ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds
- ServSafe preferred
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: From $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
