Minimum Qualifications:
The Surgicenter Endoscopy Technician-Non Certified, supports the Department of Gastroenterology in the SurgiCenters, by providing management of the scopes and scope disinfectant equipment at each SurgiCenter. This position ensures that all duties related to the supply of scopes and equipment management, are accurately, efficiently and productively performed. This position cleans, maintains and participates in the Endoscope Reprocessing and High Level Disinfection Process. The Endoscopy Technician-Non Certified, is responsible to perform an annual Endoscope Reprocessing and High Level Disinfection Competency and demonstrate equipment and Flexible Endoscope competency. This position ensures the working order of the endoscopy equipment and supplies. This position reports broken equipment and expired supplies to the Team Lead or designee. This position supports the GI endoscopy team by assisting with patient care related duties and procedures as requested or necessary. This position will require 12 months of Sterile Processing GI Endoscope Reprocessing technical hours toward certification. Incumbent SurgiCenter Employees may use current employment experience in Endo Department.
This position supports the endoscopy team by assisting with patient care related duties and procedures as requested or necessary. The SurgiCenter Endoscopy Technician-Non Certified assists the physician and registered nurse during Endoscopic diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and delivers care in a prompt and professional manner. Duties include but are not limited to; assisting with laboratory specimens, decontamination and High Level Disinfection of equipment, ensuring availability of supplies, and other support functions as given.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent required.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS:
BLSHCP required within 60 days from date of hire or transfer. GI Endoscope Reprocessing Technician Certification Required within 12 months from Date of Hire for transfer.
Once certified, the tech will be promoted into an SurgiCenter Endoscopy Tech II Certified position.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 6 months endoscopy/GI Lab experience required. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards of the hospital environment, such as exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous waste, and potential injury.
Physical demands include but are not limited to considerable stooping, crouching, pushing equipment and excessive standing and walking. Lifting approximately 25-30 lbs frequently; lifting 50-10 lbs with assistance occasionally.
