POSITION SUMMARY
Full Time (0.9 clinical/0.1 admin to 0.8 clinical/0.2 admin)
LEADERSHIP:
The Lead APP serves in a dyad role with the physician Director of Trauma and service line operational leadership as a knowledgeable, experienced, and respected leader. This position is responsible for the leadership of all trauma APPs, working collaboratively with key stakeholders in nursing, physician, and administrative leadership in support of the service line mission, vision, and goals.
Leadership duties:
CLINICAL:
The APP provides care for patients who have experienced traumatic injuries while playing a crucial role in the assessment, stabilization, and management of trauma patients. These conditions may be addressed in the emergency department, trauma department, operating room, or patient unit. The APP may perform diagnostic and therapeutic tasks and procedures independently while collaborating with physician colleagues with appropriate credentialing for privileges. The APP will collect data and assess, diagnose, treat, and evaluate patients under their care, including rapid primary and secondary surveys to identify, manage, and prioritize interventions. The APP is responsible for patient advocacy in the medical care system, serving as an advisor and liaison between patients and physicians.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts, and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.
Depending on the discipline of the APP – appropriate state administrative codes and AtlantiCare Bylaws, Rules and Regulations will apply and could vary in that discipline (NP v. PA).
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Master's degree required. Completion of an accredited nurse practitioner or physician assistant (associate) program is also required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: The candidate must be board-certified as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant and licensed by the State of New Jersey. The candidate must also be credentialed as an allied health practitioner with AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in accordance with the Medical Staff Bylaws.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five years of experience in the advanced practice provider role. Trauma experience is required. Proficiency in clinical applications is preferred at the time of hire. Incumbents within the position will be trained appropriately, and then skills will be required within 30–60 days from the hire date.
RECOMMENDED: A doctorate with didactic leadership training is preferred. Lean Six Sigma, White Belt certification is preferred or must be completed within 6 months of hire.

Demonstrates leadership, operational, and clinical competencies as established by the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to the AVP of Advanced Practice Providers with dotted line structure clinically (to Medical Trauma Director) and operationally (to service line operational leadership) creating a triad.
Will function as a clinical team leader for trauma in a physician director/APP dyad structure for team decisions around providers.
Will supervise/manage a minimum of 10 APPs (0.1 admin time) to a maximum of 20 APPs (0.2 admin time) in the trauma service line.
