The Families and Events Liaison assists with the coordination of a comprehensive plan of educational, recreational, and enrichment activities, in collaboration with district goals. The Families and Events Liaison connects parents to resources needed between home and school to further students’ academic and social success. This position plays a vital role to further increase parental involvement within the school district. Their role is to establish effective communication to improve community outreach and training opportunities for parents and families. Additionally, the Families and Events Liaison is committed to Atlantis Charter School Board of Trustee’s policies regarding equity, human rights and cross cultural understanding and reports to Family & Comminity Resources Center (FCRC) Coordinator.
This position is a 10 month position but also requires 10 additional working days over the summer as needed. The ability to read, write and speak proficiently in Portuguese required

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
- 2-3 years of experience in planning and implementing educational, enrichment, health
- volunteer, and community activities and programs.
- Ability to read, write and speak proficiently in Portuguese required
- Ability to perform tasks with limited supervision.
- Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Ability to work effectively with staff, students, families and community organizations.
- Proficient in MS Office products.
REPORTS TO: Family & Community Resource Center (FCRC) Coordinator
SUPERVISION: None
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
While actual roles and responsibilities will vary depending on individual circumstances, the Families and Events Liaison will generally be required to perform some or all of the following tasks. Note that this list is not all-inclusive and that the ACS Administration team may also assign other tasks they deem appropriate.
- Assists in the development of increased community involvement and business partnerships, including attending community meetings and networking when appropriate.
- Assists with the Atlantis Charter School Volunteer Program including volunteer training, maintains the database for tracking volunteer hours through approved tracking methods, forwards to Enrollment Liaison for CORI Data Base input
- Monitors registered Volunteer Program participants to confirm attendance and provide support throughout their volunteer experience.
- Coordinates volunteers for events at the school, tasks in the classroom, at home, or in the community as requested by the FCRC coordinator or Administrative Team.
- Provides oral and written interpreting and translation services in the district; to include family meetings, parent-teacher conferences, IEP meetings, registrations, school events, including District and FCRC sponsored activities, and any written documents disseminated from the school.
- Ensures that language is interpreted accurately and the information conveys the intended meaning by ensuring the original message maintains the original tone and context.
- Supports FCRC department by being flexible and accommodating for interpreting and translation needs.
- Attends and collaborates in family events planned for evenings and weekends as needed.
- Assists in maintaining high morale of Atlantis Charter School staff, students and parents through the coordinator of activities for each of these groups.
- Collaborates with the Administration team to communicate Atlantis’ educational objectives to parents and community members, encouraging their participation in the school.
- Supports teaching and non teaching staff with advertising, promotion, organization and implementation of school events.
- Prepares materials and/or collaborates with Marketing and Communication Director to communicate, publicize, and promote school events such as books fairs, workshops, parent engagement activities, workshops, and other activities.
- Assists in planning and participates in activities sponsored by the school’s parent organizations to ensure smooth operations, including financial transactions.
- Follows all protocols and procedures for money exchanges at events and generates financial reports upon completion.
- Follows all procedures and protocols involving the collection of money and checks after an event or fundraiser and ensures that the Business Office receives funds according to the established procedures.
- Attends all ACS Parent Group meetings and keeps accurate notes of events at the meetings.
- Works to actively promote and encourage a positive school culture with ACS parents through the Parent Group and the Parent Leadership Group.
- Organizes and promotes fundraising opportunities in collaboration with the FCRC Coordinator.

EVALUATION
An annual performance evaluation of the Families and Events Liaison will be conducted by the FCRC Coordinator.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
10-month position plus an additional 10 days to be worked as needed during summer and breaks. Salary as negotiated per contract.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Ability to walk, sit and stand for long periods. Regularly uses computer keyboard, requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity. Some occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds is required. Reliable transportation to community resource offices, event locations, school administration building and other locations as needed required. Will be required to attend evening and weekend events as needed.
Salary : $48,000 - $71,000
