What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Project Engineer position at Atlas Copco?
Your role:
Manage engineering projects and mechanical design, oversee and with the engineering and
engineering contract houses that work on Atlas Copco projects and equipment involving engineering design, CAD, programming and start-up. Set priorities on jobs and communicate with Atlas Copco Project Managers and customers to ensure that we are meeting requirements on their work.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain project engineering schedule by overseeing engineering progress, calculating time requirements considering sequencing project elements, coordinating activities, and resolving engineering problems.
- Develop project engineering goals by reviewing project proposals and plans conferring with the engineering team when required.
- Controls, maintains, and monitors engineering budget.
- Determine project specifications by studying customer products, customer environments, customer requirements, and internal performance standards for comparable projects.
- Controls external project costs by creating RFQ documents and approving contractor quotes.
- Responsible for mechanical designs associated with the production of systems that meet customers’ expectations.
- Controls project plan by reviewing design, and specifications and recommending the correct engineering plan of action.
- Ensure documentation meets customer requirements.
- Ensure all mechanical designs are up to date according to manufacturing and customer changes.
- Work with purchasing department to maintain outside mechanical design sources to provide additional reliable capacity.
- Assist Sales, Proposal Department, and product companies with the development of new products, concepts, or cost-related issues.
To succeed, you will need:
- Bachelor's Degree (BSME) from an accredited four-year college or university with 8 – 10 years of Machine Design experience or 15 years of Machine Design experience.
- Must have supervisory / leadership experience.
- Must have project engineering experience.
- Understanding how to work in Windchill PDM preferred.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Solid Works.
- Fastening Experience with Nutrunner Applications preferred.
- Experience with Torque Tubes, Articulating Arms, and Ergonomic Assists.
- Machine tool experience for General / Final Assembly for the automotive industry.
- Work with advanced mathematical concepts
- Perform stress analysis calculations
- Interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
