Prep/Line Cook Job Duties include a range of activities from:
Morning Prep Work
Communicating Pars and Prep Expectations with Team
Communication Order Needs with Manager
Recipe Adherence
Setting up the Line for Open
Executing Line Cook responsibilities through Lunch Service
Assisting Team and Guests
Cleaning Dishes
Cleaning Projects
Prep and Line Cooks make delicious food in a fast manner for quick service of Brakeman’s Guests. This position begins each day with light Prep Work and then transitions to Line Cook for the lunch service. Fast team work, friendly vibes and recipe accuracy are crucial in this operation to make an impact with Colorado Springs Guests and keep them coming back.
Job duties include following recipes to Chef’s specifications, maintaining a high kitchen standard of cleanliness. Must have organizational skills, ability to follow instructions, attention to detail, and ability to function very well under pressure. We are a high volume space, so excellent teamwork is a must.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Prepare a variety of entrees according to established recipes and standards which are presented in an attractive and appetizing manner
- Follow food safety and sanitation procedures to ensure the safety and quality of our food
- Assist in the preparation of line items
- Communicate effectively with other members of the kitchen team to ensure that orders are completed quickly and efficiently
- Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and utensils, as well as the work area, to ensure a safe and hygienic environment
- Assist in the development of specials, as well as the maintenance of prep lists and par levels
- Continuously seek feedback and ways to improve our dishes, processes, and customer experience
Qualifications:
- A passion for food and a desire to learn and grow in the culinary industry
- Punctual and Ready for Scheduled Shifts
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety and sanitation standards
- Availability - This position is mainly scheduled to work mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Ideal candidate must have availability for those shifts
