The Brakeman's GM is responsible for the overall smooth operation of Brakemans by instilling the values of Shear Determination, Attention to Detail and an Aim to Please Mindset through daily teamwork, motivation and strong leadership.
The GM supports Brakeman’s through a continuous feedback loop to grow and develop changes and capture the right fit for culture quickly to rightsize the operation to its fullest potential. The Brakeman's GM leads operations on the culinary side as operations partner to the Culinary Director to improve process, cut costs and mentor line cooks to reach their potential. The Brakeman's GM also guides and supports the marketing function as a thought partner to the Marketing Director and assists with marketing initiatives and the upkeep of marketing collateral.

Key Activities and Responsibilities:
Leadership: Responsible for creating and enhancing a restaurant culture that drives excellence of teamwork, top line revenues, excellent service standards, high quality product for the guest, dynamic culture, strong morale, and superior profit management to achieve financial goals.
Team Development: Fully responsible for Brakeman's hiring, training, and development processes. Oversees mentoring of the new and current team as well as cultivating new potential leaders. Consistently coaching each lead to perform their role to the highest standards.
Operational Excellence: Conducts daily audits and line checks of Brakemans to ensure preparedness and excellence in all areas. Performs in the role of project management of multiple programs and priorities of Brakemans.
Monitors, directs and coordinates any repairs or maintenance within Brakemans as well as ensures the space is attractive and comfortable to guests and team alike. Large ticket tasks requiring approval or accrual are planned with ownership in a timely and cost effective manner.
Financial Management: Key contributor to rightsizing financial and long term planning. Maximizes annual, quarterly and weekly budgets for Brakemans, keeping spending low while growing and developing sales initiatives. Manage clock-ins, labor budgets, payroll, and scheduling for the team.
Prepares all financial and operational weekly reporting required for delivering and analyzing the financial results of the restaurant on a regular basis. Reviews any significant variances from the budgeted figures and crafts strategic spending to offset costs. Ensures practices meet or exceed yearly financial targets.
Monitors the expenses of the restaurant to ensure that effective cost-containment practices are in place. Also ensures that operating expenses are in line with the budget.
Produces approved budgets, and operates within established guidelines regarding costs, expenses, sales and profits.
