The Production and Supply Chain Manager is responsible for developing and managing production schedules, overseeing logistics, and ensuring the seamless procurement of materials for the machine shop. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Production Scheduling
- Develop, implement, and manage production schedules to align with customer demands and company objectives.
- Plan and sequence jobs based on priorities, machine availability, and workforce capacity.
- Monitor and adjust daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules as required.
Capacity Planning
- Analyze machine and labor capacity to identify bottlenecks and optimize resource utilization.
- Collaborate with engineering, sales, and operations teams to address capacity constraints and implement solutions.
Shipping and Logistics Management
- Oversee shipping activities to ensure timely delivery of products.
- Coordinate with carriers and vendors to manage freight schedules and resolve shipping issues.
- Track shipments and ensure accurate and compliant documentation.
Purchasing and Materials Management
- Manage purchasing to ensure timely procurement of materials, tools, and supplies.
- Foster relationships with suppliers to negotiate pricing, lead times, and service levels.
- Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstock situations.
Resource Allocation
- Collaborate with department managers to allocate resources effectively and meet production deadlines.
- Ensure materials, tools, and personnel are properly assigned to maintain efficient operations.
Communication and Coordination
- Serve as the primary liaison among sales, engineering, production, and procurement teams to align schedules with customer requirements.
- Clearly communicate schedule changes and updates to all stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to enhance processes in scheduling, shipping, and purchasing to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives to drive operational excellence.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of production schedules, work orders, shipping, and purchasing activities.
- Provide reports on metrics such as schedule adherence, capacity utilization, shipping performance, and purchasing efficiency.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in operations management, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- 5 years of experience in production scheduling, logistics, and purchasing, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in scheduling software (e.g., ERP/MRP systems) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of machining processes, production workflows, and supply chain management.
- Familiarity with shipping and purchasing systems and best practices.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
