We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. Duties
- Review and analyze patient medical records to assign appropriate codes using ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG coding systems.
- Ensure accurate billing by verifying patient information, insurance coverage, and coding accuracy.
- Process claims for reimbursement from insurance companies and follow up on outstanding claims.
- Maintain organized medical records and documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve discrepancies in billing or coding.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations, coding standards, and insurance policies.
- Assist with medical collections as needed, ensuring timely payment for services rendered.
Experience
- Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a medical office setting is preferred. Podiatry experience highly beneficial.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and understanding of various coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9).
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant software applications related to medical billing and coding.
