Heavy Equipment Operator

Atlas Organics is looking for Heavy Equipment Operators to join the team in Durham, NC! The primary responsibility of the Heavy Equipment Operator is to safely operate heavy equipment, such as loaders, grinders, shredders and screens to manufacture compost and other soil amendments.

Shift/hours: Rotating shift; 4 days/week, 7:30am-6pm

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Safely and effectively operate various forms of heavy equipment to move product and feed shredders, grinders and screens.
• Upload Daily Production Reports.
• Safely load product onto roll off containers or walking floor trailers.
• Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized working environment.
• Observe and comply with all applicable safety regulations, rules, policies and procedures.
• Maintain collaborative working relationship with drivers, operators and coworkers.
• Participate in external, Department and Company-wide trainings to increase skill sets and improve service.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Education, Training & Experience

• One year of related experience using heavy equipment required.
• Experience in the compost industry a plus.
• Certifications a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Heavy equipment operation.
• Federal, state and local job site health and safety rules, regulations and best practices.
• Maintain a positive attitude with coworkers.

Physical Requirements:

• Outdoor work environment.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
