What are the responsibilities and job description for the DDE 4000 Chief Engineer position at Atlas Professionals?
The vessel is a 500 Ton vessel, 180x42x14 ft draft that assists with lightering operations in the Gulf of Mexico.
The boats run a 28/28 work schedule with 28 days on and 28 off.
- Overseeing the operation, maintenance, and repair of the vessel's engines, boilers, pumps, and other mechanical systems.
- Managing the engineering crew, including training, supervision, and performance evaluations.
- Developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs to ensure the continued reliability and efficiency of the vessel's mechanical systems.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant national and international laws and regulations related to the operation and maintenance of the vessel's mechanical systems.
- Maintaining accurate records of the vessel's engineering activities, including logs of maintenance and repair work and fuel consumption.
- Managing the budget for the vessel's engineering department, including purchasing and inventory control.
- Overseeing the installation and commissioning of new mechanical equipment, as needed.
- Coordinating with other shipboard departments, such as the Deck Department, to ensure that the vessel is operated safely and efficiently.
- Participating in emergency response drills and exercises, and providing leadership during emergency situations.
