Plant Engineer Primary Responsibilities
- Analyze operational data to assess current processes and evaluate potential improvements.
- Lead equipment and facility-related projects from concept to completion.
- Collaborate with department heads to embed quality into all production processes.
- Perform root cause analyses and recommend effective corrective actions.
- Conduct system capability studies and support initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
- Drive process improvements to prevent quality defects before they occur.
- Train production and maintenance staff on new technical processes and equipment.
- Generate and maintain detailed reports including monthly updates, statistical tracking, and issue investigations.
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of all machinery, equipment, and facility systems.
- Oversee emergency repairs and coordinate scheduled maintenance to minimize downtime—may require flexibility with second/third shifts or weekends.
- Manage preventive maintenance schedules through eMaintenance software and maintain accurate records.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Engineering team and Plant Manager on capital projects and new equipment installations.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and internal safety protocols (e.g., Lockout/Tagout procedures).
- Maintain clean, organized workspaces and operate forklifts/scissor lifts as required.
- Supervise maintenance personnel, make hiring recommendations, and ensure ongoing team development.
- Stay compliant with safety and quality training programs and maintain required documentation.
- Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
- Proven success in process improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing and 5S methodologies is preferred.
- Mechanical engineering experience strongly preferred.
- 2 years of post-high school education or technical training preferred.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in manufacturing or industrial maintenance required.
- Deep knowledge of general mechanical systems, safety standards, and preventative maintenance best practices.
- Specialized expertise in areas such as boilers, fabrication, or control systems is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical data and regulations.
- Skilled in decision-making, risk analysis, and problem-solving.
- Capable of generating innovative solutions and driving continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must be self-motivated and able to lead teams effectively.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and maintain organization in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, safety protocols, and quality standards.
- Strong electrical and control system expertise
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred).
- Must be fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Must possess basic math skills and proficiency in using hand-held measuring tools.
- Valid driver’s license and insurance for work-related travel.
- Moderate to heavy physical activity including sitting, standing, walking, climbing, and lifting (up to 100 lbs).
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and conditions throughout the shift.
- Must be capable of operating machinery and tools in a safe, efficient manner.
