Process Engineer Characteristics
- Ability to get into the process hands on, talk to operators and question the norm. The ideal candidate would be willing to get their hands dirty and roll up their sleeves. They would need to be self-motivated and have a curiosity to learn new things.
- Applies relevant methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes
- Analyzes existing operating methods and initiates and develops new methods to improve cost, reliability and quality of products and processes.
- Builds quality into the process by working with department managers and supervisors to eliminate quality errors in process
- Conducts system capability studies; assists operations in efficiency improvements
- Develops and improves processes to prevent quality errors prior to the manufacture of product
- Design, develop, and implement process improvements and to control usage and reduce waste.
- Completes reports and logs to document progress toward process improvement.
Process Engineer Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Able to read, analyze, and interpret technical drawings.
- Able to analyze costs, benefits, risk and success of a decision
- Generates new ideas and strategies and provides innovative solutions to problems
- Ability to analyze the equipment and tools for troubleshooting problems and process improvement projects.
- Able to interact with hourly, salary and upper management both verbally and written.
- Experience using Microsoft Office tools in the following manner: Excel – (sorting data, creating tables, and creating graphs, performing statistical analysis); Outlook – (general professional correspondence); Word – (document created / editing); Power point – (presentation creation / editing); Teams – (online meetings, scheduling calls, meetings, etc. Creating team page (uploading documents, editing current documents) Minitab – (uploading data to spreadsheet, performing statistical analysis and interpreting data)
Process Engineer Experience, Education, Licenses & Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, mechanical preferred
- Manufacturing Experience in process improvement and cost reductions programs of at least 2 years.
- Education and/or experience implementing Lean Manufacturing, 5S methodologies, and Continuous Improvement (classroom setting or otherwise)
