Production Buyer

Atlas Roofing Shingles and Underlayment is seeking a Production Buyer for Clinton, IA.

Production Buyer Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain material inventories at lower levels to control costs without disruption to production.
• Support Corporate Purchasing Dept in buying materials to support the plant.
• Contact suppliers/vendors to place orders.
• Enter Purchase Orders into PeopleSoft.
• Maintain inventory levels based on operational needs as well as RM pricing trends.
• Other related duties as assigned by Plant Manager.
• Regular, consistent physical attendance.
• Maintain current vendor lists.
• Write about plant purchase orders.
• Coordinate with Accounts payable/receivable to ensure accuracy.
• Ensure that all purchase requests are approved by the Plant Manager or designer.
• Purchase supplies / services.
• Research vendors and suppliers to ensure the best possible price and availability.
• Consolidate purchase orders and receivers and forward to accounting.
• Coordinate with outside vendors for purchase and delivery of items.
• Coordinates with Process Manager for raw materials purchasing inventory and reconciliation.
• Performs credit checks, verifies W9's, and forwards information to the corporate office for vendor approval.
• Assists with the obtainment and record-keeping of contractor certificates of insurance.
• Serves as the plant's liaison between Accounting and HR Departments.
• Other duties as defined by the Plant Manager or reporting manager.
• Regular, consistent physical attendance.

Training Manager Experience

• 5 years' experience working on the plant production floor

Training Manager Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• PC literate, including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel & PowerPoint), E-Time, Email and PeopleSoft
• Strong interpersonal skills, both oral and written, to communicate with a wide variety of personnel and functional areas
• Must be able to analyze and solve personnel and technical problems daily
• Quick decision-making abilities necessary on daily problems assignments
• Basic math skills required - Advanced math skills desired
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to learn quickly and retain a large amount of detail regarding customer and products.
• Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate clearly (both orally and written) to personnel from a variety of functional areas.
• Ability to enter, manipulate and retrieve data from the computer.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of personnel.

Training Manager Education, Licenses & Certifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required, associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school desired, three years' experience in accounting related position.

Training Manager Additional Information

• Occasional trips to corporate offices, other Atlas plants, customers, or vendors for seminars, meetings and training
