Job Description:
The Controller is one of five people on our senior leadership team steering the direction of the company. Join our Chairman, President, VP of Sales & Marketing, and Purchasing Manager as we help guide the company into the future. The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the company, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and internal controls. This high-level, hands-on position will oversee and manage the day-today accounting operations and human resources of the business. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can work collaboratively across departments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, financial management, and people management.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead a team of 3 direct reports, 2 from accounting department and 1 from the human resources department.
• Oversee accounting operations, including accounts receivable/payable, credit, general ledger, P&L and Balance Sheet
• Must be able to produce cash flow analysis, budgets, and projections on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
• Lead the company’s accounting, finance, and human resources functions, including overseeing the day-to-day accounting, payroll, and reporting.
• Prepare, review, and maintain accurate financial statements, reports, and forecasts.
• Develop and monitor annual budgets and perform variance analysis.
• Must be able to produce cash flow analysis, budgets, and projections on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and reporting requirements.
• Manage internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
• Coordinate with our outside accountant and bank regarding compliance on taxes and reporting.
• Develop financial models and provide insights to support business decisions.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to implement financial strategies and improve profitability.
• Mentor and manage accounting team members and human resources, ensuring proper training and professional development.
Company Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of seven years of experience in financial management, accounting, or a controller role. Experience in a wholesale or building materials a plus.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, and budgeting.
• Experience with financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, Concur, bill.com etc).
• Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Knowledge of tax structures and statutory reporting
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
• Advanced Excel skills, ability to work with pivot tables, lookups; macros a plus.
Salary : $140,000 - $160,000
